  • Anforderungen This course is intended for application developers who will use Visual Basic 5.0 to create sophisticated business applications. This series assumes that the learner has experience with Microsoft Windows operating system 3.1 or later, and a knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Participants should also have the knowledge of Basic or another procedural language, including experience using variables, control structures like if-then-else statements and also looping structures like for and while loops. Participants should have taken Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0: Programming Fundamentals (Courses 71591 and 71592) and Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0: Working with Databases (Courses 71593 and 71594).

    This is the fifth course in a seven part series intended for application developers who intend to design, build and implement business solutions by using Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0. The series aims to enable the professionals to pass Microsoft exam 70-165, Developing Applications with Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0.

    Unit 1: Crystal Reports 1 - 2 hours

    - Identify the functions of Crystal Reports.
    - Design a report by using Crystal Reports.
    - Add fields from a database to a report by using the drag and drop method.
    - Invoke a report by using the Crystal Report control.
    - Specify database links between tables to create a report based on multiple tables.
    - Add a group section to a report by using the drag and drop method.
    - Add a subtotals section to a report.
    - Add Selection Criteria for individual groups by using the Edit Group Selection Formula.
    - Create a Cross-tab report.
    - Save data with a report.
    - Enter the code to specify selection criteria for a record.
    - Specify selection criteria for group fields.
    - Enter the code to specify the sort order of records.
    - Enter the code to specify the sort order of groups in a table.
    - Trap and display errors.

    Unit 2: Using DLLs 1 - 2 hours

    - Identify the benefits of using DLLs in your application.
    - Identify the types of DLLs which can be called from a Visual Basic application.
    - Call a DLL procedure after declaring it.
    - Include a DLL routine in an application by loading the Win32api. Text using the API Text Viewer utility.
    - Declare a DLL function with different argument passings.
    - Declare an argument As Any data type in a DLL function.
    - Pass a string with arguments to a DLL function using the fixed-length string method.
    - Pass a NULL to the FindWindow DLL function.
    - Declare a DLL using the alias clause.
    - Enter the statement to a pass a user-defined function pointer to the EnumFontfamilies DLL function by using the AddressOf operator.

    Unit 3: Add-Ins 2 hours

    - Identify the functions of add-ins.
    - Access the existing add-in TabOrder to change the order of controls in a form.
    - Set a reference to the Visual Basic environment by using the AddToINI procedure in a basic module.
    - Add IDTExtensibility methods to an add-in.
    - Test an add-in project by making a dll.
    - Complete the code to add a pop-up command bar in an add-in.
    - Connect a procedure to a pop-up command bar by using CommandBarEvents.
    - Enter the statement to add a code to an add-in project by using the AddFromString method of the CodeModule object.
    - Enter the code to add a module component to a collection using the add methods.
    - Complete the code to add controls in a form by using the Designer property of a VBComponent object.
    - Complete the command to add an IDE docking window.

    Unit 4: Messaging Using MAPI 2 hours

    - Identify the functions of MAPI.
    - Identify the messaging options used to create mail-enabled applications.
    - Identify the messaging objects used for adding messages.
    - Add MAPI controls to a form by using the Toolbox.
    - Start a mail session using the Signon method of MAPISession control.
    - Start a MAPI Session using the Logon method.
    - Create a message by setting the properties of a message.
    - Create a recipient for receiving a message.
    - Send a message using the Send Method.
    - Retrieve messages from the Message collection Inbox using the Get methods.
    - End a mail session using the Logoff method.

    Course Access

    Each student has access to the course for a period of 6 months from the day of enrollment in the course.
